Physiotherapy
Warners has been one of Yorkshire’s leading physiotherapy providers for over 25 years, initially starting out as The Hull Sports Medicine Centre in 1996.
At Warners, our team of Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Experts and Clinicians aim to not just treat the pain but to find and eliminate the cause. This has one simple and effective outcome; to improve both short term pain and prevent recurrence or long term repercussions. Using a variety of both time-served and frontier treatments and exercises, our goal is to get you back to optimal recovery. Each patient is given a personalised treatment plan and are supervised throughout the recovery process at our purpose-built facility.
We have vast experience in treating all forms of musculoskeletal conditions with a scientific and hands on approach from day one which makes us the clinic of choice for both self-funding and referral partners.
Warners is registered with the health & care professional council (HCPC) enabling affordable and accessible assessments and treatment whether with a private health insurance or health scheme.
1-2-1 Rehabilitation
Our rehabilitation team work with patients on a weekly 1-2-1 basis to provide exercises scientifically proven to aid recovery for your injury, making each program personalised with constant support to progress and support to your recovery goal. Our clients have full access to the gym at all other times throughout their treatment and plan.
Shockwave Therapy
Radial Shock Wave therapy is a non-intrusive treatment when combined with exercise therapy has been clinically proven to accelerate the healing time of common injuries compared therapy and reduce pain.
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) was first used for kidney stones, as a method to disintegrate them. At the beginning of the 1990s, it was used as a non-invasive procedure to successfully treat calcific tendinitis. From then on, further tendon disorders were effectively addressed, with subsequent research work on their biological and clinical effects (Poenaru et al,. 2022).
Shockwave therapy has been found to:
Reduce Pain (Hausdorf et al., 2008)
Increases blood flow
Facilitate Tissue Healing & tendon tissue regeneration
Positively regulates inflammation
Reduces hypertonia in spastic muscles
Reboots the healing process in chronic conditions
Beneficial effects have been shown in the management of bone, muscle and tendon pathologies including but not limited to:
Rotator cuff
Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow)
Biceps tendinopathy
Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome
Proximal hamstring tendinopathy
Patellar tendinopathy
Achilles tendinopathy
Plantar Fasciopathy
Manual Therapy
Warners offers a variety of manual therapy techniques designed to reduce pain and increase range of movement including sports massage, cupping, mobilisations, neurodynamic and stretch techniques and myofascial release. The benefits of which include:
Reduction in muscle tension, stiffness, and stress on the joints.
A decrease in muscle spasm to reduce pain.
Realignment of scar tissue and adhesion repair.
An increase in blood flow supplying oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.
Removal of waste products.
Stimulation of nerves for optimal efficiency.
Improvement in confidence for sporting performance and activities of daily life.
Massage is widely used by the athletic population for a variety of purposes such as injury prevention, recovery from fatigue, relaxation and to increase performance (Hemmings,2001).
Cupping helps to promote blood circulation and improve immunity. Cupping therapy has reported benefits for localized pain such as lower back, knee and neck, shoulder, and headache as well as systemic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes (Aboushanab & Alsanad, 2018).
Cold Compression Therapy
This treatment is a combination of compression and cold therapy which has been clinically proven to be more effective than ice therapy alone. The cold pads act to alleviate pain and helps to reduce swelling by restricting blood flow to the area. The compression also reduces swelling and allows the therapeutic cold to penetrate deeper and last longer. Common injuries for this treatment would be acute injury, osteoarthritis, and post-surgery.
Cold compress therapy is evidenced to be superior to alternative treatment modalities for improving clinical outcomes after knee replacement surgery (Block, 2010).
Health Screening
A service provided to individuals and companies on site. The screening includes blood pressure, resting heart rate, body fat percentage, visceral fat scores, hydration levels and metabolic rate to name a few.
Crucially our screening also includes blood glucose and cholesterol testing, assessing the risk factors for heart disease and diabetes. Blood glucose testing provides valuable information of blood sugar levels which screens for the risk of type 2 diabetes. Our cholesterol testing measures both the good and bad cholesterol providing a ratio to give a more accurate result. A full explanation will be provided for you to assess your results with advice given in any area of concern in order to make any lifestyle decisions to improve your health and reduce the risk of any related condition.
Electrotherapy
Ultrasound is used to improve joint stiffness, reduce pain and muscle spasm, increase blood flow and encourage tissue regeneration. It uses an electrical current to create a mechanical energy generating waves from a transducer which is transmitted into the tissues to accelerate healing and breakdown scar tissue. Ultrasound has a greater effect on tissues containing less water such as tendons and ligaments. It can therefore help with frozen shoulder, Achilles tendinopathy and ligamentous injuries to name a few.
Interferential Therapy (IFT) uses electrical muscle stimulation to relieve pain and enhance healing. Interferential is commonly used to promote tissue healing, relieve muscle spasm and improve muscle weakness by stimulating deep muscles. It can help with chronic conditions such as lower back pain and sciatica as well as acute injuries reducing swelling enabling movement to accelerate healing.
Traction Therapy
A therapy used to treat chronic lower back and neck pain by mechanically unloading the lumbar and cervical spine. This technique decompresses the spine releasing any pinched nerves reducing pain, stiffness, and tension. It is used to treat conditions such as Cervical Spondylosis, Disc Protrusion and Sciatica.
